I believe the above photo perfectly encapsulates not just the New York International Auto Show but perhaps all auto shows. On the far left we have a gentleman with a large backpack adorned with patches from other auto show expeditions who looks rather lost. On the right we have a man either taking a very aggressive selfie or raising his arms to the heavens, cursing the cruel automotive gods that won’t allow the RS3 hatchback into America. Finally standing dead center we’ve got the everyman journo/blogger checking his phone to see if that invite to the Bentley party has come through, it hasn’t and it won’t.
Personally I had a great time at the show, it was my first time going and I certainly hope to make it back next year. I schmoozed with the key holders for various companies, did my best to convince them it’ll be worth their time to loan me vehicles, we’ll see how all that plays out in the coming months. I crossed paths with some industry luminaries (what’s up Mark Gillies?!), hung with a fellow Opponaut who got the best photos I’ve seen from the show and only got chastised once for sitting in a vehicle I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to. I skipped all the parties, so I don’t have any good stories about arm wrestling Johan De Nysschen or playing beer pong with Alfonso Albaisa. I did however manage to make it by one of my favorite New York hole in the wall joints, Wogies Bar and Grill, for the best damn cheesesteak outside of Philly.
Oh I also took a bunch of photos with an actual camera not just the ‘ol i-Phone which you can check out right down below.
Cheers,
-Andrew

Still kinda blowing my mind that they're going to make this car.
